Chaska, Minn. — Clear roads on the freeway during the summer don’t give drivers a free-pass to speed. In July, Carver County motorists will face enhanced speed enforcement patrols as part of a statewide campaign coordinated by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety.

Average retail gasoline prices in Twin Cities have risen 3.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.66/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has fallen 4.8 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.66/g, according to gasoline price website TwinCitiesGasPrices.com.
Carver County veterans’ organizations and local Boy Scout troops gathered in Chaska for the annual countywide flag retirement ceremony on June 2.
The ceremony was similar to a military funeral, said Chaska VFW Post 1791 Commander Rich Daniels. Indeed, it was almost as if one of their own had died, and memories of a foreign battle field came flooding back.
Minnesota non-profit VEGA Productions will stage their fourth concert cruise on Friday, June 24 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on the scenic St. Croix River. The “St. Croix Riverboat Rally” aims to raise money for music and arts education by presenting a co-bill of local bands Pert Near Sandstone and the White Iron Band to perform during the charity event. Proceeds from the event will benefit students in public schools throughout Minnesota.
Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson reports that on June 16, there were two burglary reports of homes in Dahlgren Township with forced entry to the doors.
Both burglaries happened during the daylight hours. A witness in the area observed a white passenger vehicle near one of the burglaries with the trunk open. The vehicle was described as a possible Pontiac Grand Am or similar looking vehicle.
